Our texting conversation when Josh was at school...

Me:  You'd be proud of me.  Guess what I just did for you?
Josh:  What?
Me:  Guess!
Josh:  You folded laundry
Me:  :P I don't have time for that today and I usually do that.  It's something I've never done
Josh:  Cleaned up your tissues
Me:  OMG I UNDERSTAND I'M A PIG!
Josh:  You're not.
Me:  Sure.  I took his diapers out butthead :P
Josh:  Oh.  Thank you :-)

So I realize this makes me look a little bad...in so many ways.  But Josh called me right after this and we just started laughing

I'm too young to be saying this...

But where did the time go?!?

Two and a half months ago I had this...

And now I have this...

Now I have a little guy that has doubled in weight, doubled in head size, grown over 5 inches and looks like a cute chubby baby!  Tonight I gave him a bath and had to stick him down into his baby bath because he was too big for the little sling newborn babies use.  On top of that I realized half of his 0-3 month PJ's don't fit anymore, so he is wearing one of his 3-6 month PJ's.  Yes, they drown him, but I can't believe he is getting so big!  Now he smiles all of the time, he's so close to laughing, he's almost rolling over, and he holds his head up half the time.

There are times I really miss those days 2 1/2 months ago (however, I don't miss the extra 30 pounds), but then I remember how much fun he is right now and how much more sleep I get!  I can't decide whether to be excited for how fast time is flying by, or be scared that soon he will be in the "terrible two's" and be running around the house naked while coloring on the walls.

Two Months!

Michael is now two months old!  He had an appointment last week and here's where he weighs in: 22.5" (44th  percentile) long, 10.2 lbs (24th), and his head is 38 cm (16th).  He has gotten so big since he was born!  For a while I thought I was going to have a midget baby because he wasn't growing, but he finally is!

The doctor gave Michael his first round of shots.  I was prepared for a lot of screaming, but he did really well!  Josh had to hold him down so he wouldn't hit or kick the shots away and he started whimpering.  Then he let out the painful cry when the shots were in his legs.  Josh picked him up right after and he stopped crying.  We put him in his carseat and he fell right asleep.  It amazed me that he was okay with all of that.
His poor little legs!

Here are some fun things about Michael from the last month:

He has started smiling a ton! It is adorable!

He has started to enjoy tummy time.  He didn't for a while because it always made him spit up, but he has gotten so much better.  When we put him on his tummy he is great at lifting his head up.

I will put him in my lap and somehow he will wiggle his way up me until he is in a standing position leaning against me.  This little guy must have a lot of muscle.

He is (sadly) getting to the stage where he stays awake when he is in his car seat.  He still sleeps on the long drive to West Jordan, but not around town as much.

He is finally being taken out of the house a lot.  I take him to campus Monday, Wednesday, Friday.  He is babysat on Wednesday nights.  He goes grocery shopping with me.  Josh takes me to school and picks me up on Thursdays, and then we drop him off at work and I pick him up later, so Michael spends a lot of time in the car.

He's started making a lot of little noises.

He recognizes both of us and watches us when we walk around the room.

A Post Not About Michael

I've noticed that all of my posts are about a ten pound baby, so I thought Josh and I deserved a post.  So here is what is going on in our lives.

Josh and I both start school next week.  Josh has 4 classes and I have 6, which sounds like a lot but one is basically online and another is one hour a week.  I'm also taking so many now so I can take less next year when Josh will have 18 credit semesters.  This summer I will have to take some classes, one on campus and one or two online.  If we keep this us we will both graduate in a year and a half!

Josh is working right now for the same company he has been with for the last year.  He moved from customer service to a different position that is mostly processing bills.  He is looking to get a promotion pretty soon (YAY!).

We are both trying to work out a ton.  Part of this is because of our resolutions, the other part is my families Biggest Loser contest.  Currently I am in second place, which isn't bad for just starting running again.  I would just like to say that it bothers me that Josh has been running as much as I have since I got pregnant, which is....like once, and yet he can run 5x farther than me.  I use the excuse that while he was walking normally, I was waddling for the last 3 months of pregnancy and I'm still learning to walk normal again.

We have been trying to hang out with friends a lot more since Josh got out of school.  We missed our friends graduation party :( but we had a New Years Eve Party!  Soon we will have a housewarming party for our friends that just moved.  It's been fun!

Josh is waiting and waiting for snow.  He went snowboarding once already, but there wasn't much snow and it was icy.  I would like to go - now that I have my balance back - but that requires finding babysitters for Michael.   Trust me, it's not as easy as you think in winter, everyone is sick!

I'm attempting to cook my way through my new cookbook.  So far it is going great!  Tuesday I made black bean soup and french bread.  Last night Josh and I made Philly Cheese Steaks and homemade fries.  Tonight is sweet and sour meatballs.  I'm hoping this helps with our biggest loser contest...but I don't think Phillies are that healthy.

I would love to add more but that ten pound bundle of joy just woke up!

Purple Crying Stage

At the hospital Josh and I had to watch a video about what is termed 'Purple Crying'.  It is when a baby cries for no reason and nothing soothes them.  Supposedly it peaks at 6 weeks.  Well IF it actually exists Michael is going through it.  He is crying uncontrollably, in fact he is right now, and I'm home alone with him.  You could say I'm writing this blog to distract myself and ignore my son, and as horrible as it sounds you are right.  After feeding him, rocking, burping, letting him sit or lay in every position, giving him different binkies, he won't stop crying.  So I closed the door and walked away.  This inconsolable crying has to end eventually right?  I'm starting to lose hope

New Years Celebrations

On New Years Eve Josh and I had some of our friends and their son over for New Years Eve dinner.  We made a turkey, our first ever!  We thought it would be really difficult, especially since everyone we asked about it gave us different instructions.  After taking bits and pieces from our overwhelming advice we set off on our cooking adventure.  The result:

THE PERFECT TURKEY!!

It was much juicier than most turkeys I've had, making it delicious!  Along with it we made mashed potatoes, stuffing, and corn.  I was going to make my blueberry pie that tastes like cheesecake but we ran out of butter and we were too busy to get more.  O well, I'll make it soon enough.

Today I went to the doctor for my 6 week check-up.  I'm cleared to do everything I used to, so I can start running!  In celebration Josh and I went to the Babies"R"Us and bought a jogging stroller.  They are having a big sale right now which was perfect timing.  When I take Michael out for walks in his normal stroller the front wheels get stuck in the snow.  So finally I can take him for a smooth walk!
