Ethan's 3rd month

This post is late, mostly because I took the pictures a little late, but here it is!  Ethan has changed a lot in the last month, here's a little update:

  • He's moved into 3-6 month clothes
  • Last time I weighed him he was already 13lbs
  • He smiles all the time, ALL THE TIME
  • He takes a 3-4 hour nap every afternoon, and a short morning and evening nap
  • He's continued to roll over
Overall he's just a happy little boy.  I'll leave you with cute pictures

2 months

Ethan hit the two month mark and I couldn't be happier.  Between month 1 and 2 is always the hardest, I don't know why, but it is.  Maybe because you're just waiting for that smile.  Whatever it is, I'm just glad we made it through the last month so well.

Here are a few things about my little guy:

  • He's started smiling, but I haven't gotten a picture of it
  • He laughed once, but I haven't heard it since
  • He's rolled over a few more times
  • He's graduated into size 1 diapers and 0-3 month clothes
  • He's doubled his birth weight!  Which I guess isn't that hard, but it's awesome!
He's just a sweet little boy that LOVES sleep.  At night I just put a blanket over him and he falls asleep.  I love not having to rock him for a half hour, he just goes to sleep.  I got lucky with this little one!

Bye bye baby

It's creeped up on us once again.  Sadly, our baby is no longer a baby anymore.  Elli has turned one!  The first three months went by slow enough that I remember her newborn stage.  The last nine months have gone by in a blur.  Good thing I have some cute pictures and memories written down.  Here is what Elli has been up to lately:

  • She's pulling up on things, especially people, and can stand by herself a little bit.
  • She will walk along things a little bit, but not much.
  • She says dada, uh-oh, hi, go, and sock (maybe socks because she puts a "z" at the end) clearly enough for us to understand her.  She does not say mama, it is rare to hear and has been heard a total of ten times.  She also doesn't say milk or water in any way because it's a fight to get her to drink anything.
  • She has her front four teeth now.
  • She's been giving Michael kisses a lot, but rarely anyone else.  She will randomly crawl next to Michael and the next second it looks like she's trying to eat his face.  Luckily he doesn't care.
  • The only foods she hasn't liked so far have been green beans and broccoli.  She loves carrots, zucchini, avocado, and all fruits.
  • She has a very distinct personality.  We've decided that she is exactly like me.  She can be very independent, but when she wants attention she will let you know and she better get it.
  • Most of her day is spent chasing Michael around or playing quietly with her toys.
  • She enjoys singing, especially wheels on the bus which she dances to.
  • Her favorite toys are Michael's cars, legos, dinosaurs, and tools.  She has never really liked baby toys unless they make a lot of noise.  She adores stuffed animals.  She sits and hugs them for a really long time.
  • Her hair is growing at a rate of 1/8" per month, but it is growing.  It will probably stay bright blond, but we're not sure if it's curly or not.
  • She responds to peanut, bean, and stinker as much, if not more, than her name.
  • Her attention span is ridiculous.  If we turn on an interesting kids show she could watch the whole thing.  She can play with the same toy for a long time if nothing distracts her.  However, when Michael's around it seems to be that of a normal baby/toddler.
  • She is still adorable and gets away with far too much.
Because the best birthday pictures are of kids covered in chocolate...

She looks at her hand
She eats her hand
She enters a chocolate coma
She emerges victorious!

2 Months

Little Elli is two months today!!  She is getting so big!  She knows she has us wrapped around her cute, tiny fingers.

Today we took her to the doctor and got the following stats:

Height: 22 in (36th percentile)
Weight: 10 lbs 9oz (44th percentile)
Head: 14.6 in (10th percentile)

Overall the last month has been pretty smooth.

She still wakes up a few times a night, and still hasn't figured out night and day.  It seems like she sleeps for almost 24 hours straight, then is up for 24 hours.  We're trying to get her on a schedule so she doesn't do this, but it's still a work in progress.  Today for example, she slept decent last night, then was awake from 7am-1pm.  She took a couple of cat naps, but didn't sleep for more than an hour total.  But can I blame her?  She's trying to sleep through Michael.

It's so nice to have a baby that LOVES diaper changes.  Yes, loves.  She will be fussing non-stop and then smile as soon as I lay her down on the changing table.

Yup, she smiles!  But I don't have a picture of it yet.  I'm too busy trying to coax more out of her.

What else can I say about our precious little princess....nothing, she's just that, a precious little princess.

I'll leave you with a few more pictures so I can go cuddle my little one.

Michael's 12 month checkup

Michael's 1 year checkup was late and I'm annoyed why.  We moved right before Michael's 6 month checkup.  I was unwilling to drive up to Logan for a checkup, so I had to find a new doctor.  It took a while for me to find a doctor, so his 6 month appointment was 2 weeks late.  When I went to schedule a 12 month appointment a receptionist lied to me about the timing.  She said because of kindergarten requirements the 12 month appointment (and shots) has to be exactly 6 months after the 6 month appointment (and shots).  What a load of crap!!  This is not the case, so don't ever believe anyone trying to deter you from making an appointment when you want.

Anyways Michael's doctor is amazing, just amazing!  So Michael woke up that morning with a fever.  When I took him into the doctor it had reached 104.  His doctor spent at least a half hour with us checking up on him, doing a strep test, asking about his development, discussing his milestones, and letting us know the most recent information about getting shots and having a fever at the same time.  He even called us later that night to see if Michael's fever had gone down.  Amazing!!  We didn't end up getting shots, but we're going back in a about a week.  Here are his stats:

Weight:  19.9 lbs; 9th percentile
Height: 29.75 in; 42nd percentile
Head: 18.5 in; 65th percentile

His doctor says he is well rounded.  He is a decent height, but just so small!  His weight will always be on the very small side.  His height doesn't really follow a pattern.  His head is continually getting bigger.  It has gradually increased from the 13th percentile since birth.
