Ethan's blessing

I'm a little behind but we blessed Ethan at the beginning of the month.  It was a great blessing and Ethan was quiet through it, even when he lost his binky at the end.  Afterwards we had a bunch of desserts at our house.  Because I'm feeling just a little sleep deprived I'll just leave you with some cute pictures.

This was our best family picture, yes, that's Michael upside down
We'll call this good

At least he made up for ruining the family picture

Dirt lovers

I thought no one would love dirt as much as Michael.  Well I was wrong.

She was actually on her stomach waving her hands and legs around making dirt angels.  She also eats dirt.  A LOT of dirt.  At least she's getting her minerals.

Tidbits

I don't take many pictures (or I never get around to uploading them) of things that don't involve my kids.  I also don't blog too much about things they aren't involved in.  So I'm thinking once a month or so I'll just post a little of the random stuff that's more about Josh and I.

First off, we celebrated our anniversary!  Josh took me to the Melting Pot and we had a good time.  We had Ethan with us but he was decent.  Awake, but mostly content.  I liked it a lot but Josh wouldn't give it 5 stars.  Only Ruth's Chris gets 5 stars.  It was nice to be able to get out alone-ish so soon after having a baby.  Next year is 5 years....what will we do?

Josh had his Birthday.  We used our bounce back passes at Lagoon, split up the kids, and went out ALONE!  First time kid free since Ethan was born.  It was fun.  It was so hot when we first got there, but luckily within an hour huge black clouds came rolling in.  After ten minutes of rain it cleared up a little and was twenty degrees cooler.  We went out to dinner with Josh's mom and grandparents on his actual birthday.

Our TV broke.  On the 4th it turned off suddenly and we thought Josh hit the power button accidentally.  Well it wouldn't turn back on.  We thought it was the remote because out kids have practically ate it multiple times.  Turns out there really aren't buttons on our TV.  There is a weird way to turn it on, but I don't think it's ever worked.  We had a repair guy come out and the board is fried.  So after two years we've had to say goodbye.  It isn't worth it to replace the board when it's not too much more to buy a new one.

I started running again!  Does this need any explanation?  I've ran a few miles and hope to get my endurance up quickly.  I do need to go to the chiropractor though.  There is something out in my lower back that I can't pop or stretch back into place.

There are a few other things that have happened, like Ethan's baby blessing and Elli make dirt angels, but those deserve their own posts.

Lagoon

Last week Josh's office had a Lagoon day and we ventured out with the kids.  As to be expected they LOVED it!  Unfortunately, our camera died after taking 2 pictures.  Oh well, at least they were cute pictures.

1 month

I really can't believe Ethan is a month old already.  Probably because I thought I'd still be pregnant at this point.  I had no doubt in my mind that I'd be pregnant until after July 4th.  I can't tell you why, I just thought so.

Well there isn't much that happens in the first month, but here is what's going on:
  • He has started getting a decent amount of head control.  Enough so that I don't mind Michael holding him.
  • He knows his days and nights, but he pretty much came out that way.
  • He finally hit 7 lbs!
  • For now he is still in newborn clothes and diapers.
  • He spends 3-5 hours awake outside of eating every day.
  • He responds to my voice, I think he tries to ignore Michael's and Elli's voices...can you blame him?  They try to get his attention but he never responds to it.  I think it is because they are so loud most of the time
  • He did give us a bit of a medical scare (but all of our kids have given us a medical scare within their first 4 months).  His first newborn screening had some inconsistencies, but the second one came back fine.
  • He loves his bath, LOVES it!
  • He has been pretty much everywhere, and always good when we go anywhere.
  • He has laughed a few times in his sleep.  It's really cute and precious!
We love having this little guy in our family!  Hopefully the next month is a good one, I always remember this is where it starts getting hard.  I'm just excited to see some smiles!
