First, last, third trimester running
Does that make any sense? And no, still no pictures, I'm lame.
Yesterday I hit my third trimester. To celebrate I sent for a run. I went about a half mile and realized that this was my last run. I walked home slowly feeling a mix of emotions.
Yay! for running until my third trimester! Especially when I took a month and a half off in-between the first and second trimester when I couldn't keep anything down. At the time being I didn't think it wise to keep exercising when I was losing weight anyways.
Boo! for not making it closer to the end of this pregnancy. While I'm becoming physically exhausted, I mentally needed to run. Pregnancy makes me get cabin fever being trapped inside my own body. Especially when I lose the ability to bend over. I've already lost the ability to see my feet. So running will be very missed.
Only 128 days until I can run again! Okay, trying to make that sound like a happy thing is even more depressing than just being upset about it.

Animal fun
Today we went to the zoo, which is nothing new in this family. We go at least once a week. Michael loves it and Elli gets excited every time she sees the sea lions.
Michael knows most of the animals at the zoo from little books we have at home. This week he learned what a snake was. I told him there were snakes at the zoo.
We were walking from the giraffes up to the tigers and he sees a small stick on the ground, like a 3 inch stick thinner than a pencil.
Michael: Uh oh!! Oh no! Mommy a snake!
Me: That's not a snake it's a stick
Michael walked around it quickly and suddenly stopped again
Michael: Oh no! A snake!
Me: That's another stick
Michael: Where snake go?
Me: They are all in that building
Michael ran as fast as he could from the reptile building
Besides this fun conversation he has fun looking at the gorillas and orangutans now. He knows the difference between them somehow - I didn't teach it to him. He asks to see o-illas and TP's now (I have no idea where TP came from, I just remember asking him if he wanted to see the orangutans and he kept saying "go see TP's!").
He loves the peacocks and roosters, he tries to chase them whenever he can. Elephants are always a favorite, and they are big enough that Elli watches them when she can, but the fence in front of them makes it hard for her to see them sometimes.
Elli is very content to just sit in her stroller, which still confuses and amazes me. I take them out on walks together and if she doesn't have a toy she starts to hit Michael. Sometimes she hits him with the toy. Aww sibling love. The zoo is always a different story. I think she knows what it is now and has grown to love being there.
Like I said, we go at least once a week. If you ever want to come with us, let me know!

Little Runner Boy
It's been nice enough for about the last month to put my kids in the double jogging stroller and head out. I don't always run, or I make it a hundred yards before I feel like I'm going to pee my pants and I walk the rest of the way. Normally I'll just run later if this happens. With this happening a few times a week my kids have started to do a few cute things.
First off, they both shout "go!" Even Elli has joined in. How can you not run faster when you have an adorable girl shouting at you?
Then Michael learned to shout "run mom!" and "faster!" I also learned I can't tell him that the baby is making me want to pee my pants, because he says rather loudly to strangers "mommy pee pants."
A couple of weeks ago he kept saying "Michael want run". So I decided to let him get out of the stroller and run. I was surprised when he kept running for a good 100 yards. Now he usually asks to get out and run on his own a little whenever we go out.
This morning I took the kids on a long walk to see some cows and horses. Michael wanted to get out and run, so I let him. He ran 20 feet then fell flat on his face. I asked him if he was okay and he never responded. I told him that when we fall, we get up, wipe our hands off, and keep going. He took off running again and fell after another 20 feet. I asked if he was okay again. He responded "I get up, keep going!" (I geet dup, keep goin')
Maybe it's the hormones, but this was a proud mommy moment for me! Even though he only ran another 10 feet, saw a port-a-potty, thought I was tricking him into using the potty, and jumped into the stroller. I was still happy he kept going! Now I need to invest in some better shoes for him...

Michael's Baby
Last month at my appointment with my midwife she measured my stomach. Michael looked at the measuring tape in wonder. So much so that my midwife gave Michael a measuring tape of his own (which surprisingly just broke a couple of days ago, I've been waiting for that thing to get broken for weeks now) Michael instantly started measuring his belly.
At this point Michael made a mental connection, he must be having a baby too.
Ever since then he has been showing us his baby. He lifts up his shirt when we ask where his baby is. When I had my ultrasound he lifted up his shirt the whole time waiting for his baby to be looked at. It's all cute and funny.

The only problem is I can't get him to show his baby for a picture. This is me trying to force him to do it. He wasn't very happy afterwards.
Until he broke that measuring tape he would pull it out and measure my stomach, then he would put it against his stomach. Every day I would say "your baby is 4 inches!" He would smile, giggle, and run away with his measuring tape. Then I'd find him trying to measure Elli's head, legs, arms, stomach, butt, you name it. Elli wasn't fond of it, and I don't blame her. I wonder if he will have a very rude awakening in a few months when I have a baby and he doesn't.

The Park
Have I mentioned that I love Spring? Or at least Spring weather?
A big part of the reason that we chose to build here had to do with parks. You're probably thinking seriously? That was your reason?
It was a big deciding factor. We have a park about a hundred yards behind us. Because the house behind us is at an angle, I can look out our kitchen window or sliding door and see the kids at the park. Since our yard (being one of the bigger ones) wouldn't fit a swing set and slide we loved that idea. Plus, we're right by a park that has a splash pad, and a half mile away there is a park that has tons of fun toddler toys. Oh, I forgot the park up the street from us that has about 20 slides.
Michael and Elli are loving the parks too. We go at least once a day. Michael can now climb up most of the bar ladders, including curvy ones. Most of the rock walls will have to wait until he grows another 3ish inches. Elli happily climbs up the stairs and goes down the slides by herself as long as someone is there to catch her. Sometimes she just sits at the top of the slide for twenty minutes and has to deal with Michael barreling past her every thirty seconds.
Who doesn't want to get to the park in a sweet ride?
I'm hoping Elli starts walking soon so she can maneuver the park by herself. When this baby comes I probably won't be climbing up after her and coaxing her down.

He's still too short to reach the peddles but he likes walking himself along. |

Elli's Brithday Party
We did eventually throw Elli a birthday party, we just did it a little late so we would have room for everyone. Anyone who saw our old apartment knows that we could maybe fit 10 people in there, and that's really pushing it. Since there are so many families we decided to wait until we got in the house.
First thing we did was open presents. Elli wasn't very into it. I was a little surprised because I took her to a baby shower about two months ago and she was trying to rip all the paper off of those gifts.
She got a lot of clothes which was exactly what she needed. After opening presents we had cake. I don't have any pictures of Elli eating her cake, my MIL does, but I keep forgetting to get them from her. She pretty much ate the frosting off the cake and left the cake alone.
After she ate her cake I ran to give her a bath. At this point she decided she was done with everything and everyone. I didn't figure out until two days later that she was getting another tooth. She let grandma give her a bottle and went to bed early. Good thing she won't remember her party!

Yay for cheap Costco sheet cakes! |
Elli is still enjoying her party though, she tackles and lays on the balloons any chance she gets. If Michael stops popping them we might still have a few for the next month.

20 week ultrasound
Just like everything else this pregnancy the 20 week ultrasound happened when I was 23 weeks. I'm starting to wonder if this is a sign that I will be a week or more late.
The baby looks great! The only thing that could eventually become a problems is that this baby likes to chew on it's toes, so it constantly has it's feet up by it's head and not folded underneath it. It also likes to sit like a football in me. Surprisingly I don't look bigger from the back. We got some good pictures even though the baby was moving like crazy and kicking every second it could.
We didn't find out what the baby was. Even though I avoided looking when something could have been seen, Josh looked the whole time. Thankfully the only angles we happened to see make it impossible to tell the difference between a boy and the umbilical cord. So I'm now convinced this baby is a girl, while Josh is now leaning towards a boy. 4 more months until we know!

It's hard to see but the baby is going for it's toes |
This was during a kick, usually the feet are closer to the mouth |
This baby looks just like my others. I think I should scan in Michael's and Elli's and do comparison shots |

Michael Conversations
I don't remember most of these, but this one was too good to forget.
We were driving to lunch one day and Michael was very anxious to get there.
Michael: Michael drive?
Me: No, mommy is driving
Michael: Michael drive?
Me: You can drive when you're 16, do you remember how old you are?
Michael: No
Me: You're 2
Michael: Oh crap! (in a very disappointed voice)
Yup, my child knows oh crap. He says it all the time. Any time he poops he runs to me and says "oh crap!" I know plenty of moms judge me for this, but I think it's hilarious.
